Natural Tensions : Art Installation

Independent Project

Fall 2019

In June 2019, I was invited to submit some work to Collegiate School's Annual Alumni Art Show in New York City. The installation I proposed - five pieces from three recent projects - was accepted and displayed at the school that Fall.

In nature, it is the balance of tensions between the order and the disorder, the natural laws and the natural chaos, that keeps it from totally collapsing. It is a beautiful paradox.

As my first public art installation, it was exciting, nerve-wracking, and rewarding. The logistics of getting the exhibit up were daunting: I had to finish the pieces, ship them across the country, and coordinate a remote installation in NYC while I was still working in Los Angeles. Thanks to the support of the curator (Lisa Jacobson), the alumni coordinator (Jesse Cohen), my family, and a few friends, my vision for the installation was realized.
