Tighe (| TIE |) Costa is an interdisciplinary engineer, designer, and artist. With a background in research and development of extreme-environment mechatronic systems for planetary exploration, he now develops innovative solutions to complex and evolving system design problems back on Earth (mostly). He is particularly interested in the antidisciplinary: the space between existing fields of study.

Tighe is currently a Senior Systems Engineer at Second Order Effects in El Segundo, CA. Previously, he led the Robotic Systems Group at Honeybee Robotics in Altadena, CA. He holds a M.S.E. in Robotics ('16) from the GRASP Lab at the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S.E. Cum Laude ('16) in Mechanical Engineering, also from the University of Pennsylvania. Raised in New York City, he graduated Cum Laude from the Collegiate School for Boys ('12).

Outside of his projects, he enjoys traveling the world, sharing good meals with family and friends, exploring nature, listening to and playing music, and nurturing his plants.
