wheatgrass : Art Installation
FNAR712 Final Project at UPenn
Spring 2016
Orkan Telhan's course Visual Epistemologies for Creative Practices (FNAR712) is a joint seminar between the Architecture and Fine Arts departments that investigates alternative modes of diagrammatic thinking. For my final project, I decided to design an interactive installation that leaves its fate in the hands of the passer-by.

Wheatgrass is designed to remind us of the consequences of our consumption and suggest disciplined moderation as a path to sustainability. The installation presents users with two options: harvesting one of the wheatgrass plots for juicing or nurturing for the wheatgrass by either watering it or refraining from watering it. Instructions for each step, inspired by Ikea assembly manuals, are designed to invoke the feeling of interacting with mass-produced goods.

Wheatgrass can be harvested to make juice.

Wheatgrass can die when under-watered.
